Awards process 2008
The criteria used for each of the awards reflect the measures that CFOs and the investment community tell us they need to assess organisational performance.
In each case, there is particular emphasis upon the need for the relevance of any measure cited to be made apparent through explicit linkages to strategy. Whilst each award category has its own specific criteria, the principles of good quality reporting are common to all. Survey after survey, we find a call for:
- Better – not more – information.
- Linkages between the information provided and the stated strategy of the organisation.
- Quantified data that support the qualitative statements made.
- Metrics that, where relevant, illustrate performance against peers.
- Where appropriate, a statement of future ambition.
These attributes of good quality reporting are explicitly embedded in the benchmarking tool used by subject matter experts who screen the Building Public Trust Awards nominations. This objective screening methodology generates the short list that is subsequently evaluated by our independent judging panel.
